And this is very much an exclusive-use venue. When you get married at Deer Park, the entire estate becomes yours for the day, with no other weddings and no members of the public sharing the grounds. Eighty acres to call your own.
There is a lot to explore at Deer Park.
The Italian Garden, with its fountains, roses, lavender and cypress trees, provides one of the most popular settings for ceremonies and photographs.
The Walled Garden has a completely different feel, with fruit trees, seasonal planting and a glasshouse.
Then there is the light-filled Orangery, the Botanical Conservatory, Loxton’s Gallery and two elegant lounges.
And when it’s time to escape the celebrations for five minutes, there are plenty of quiet corners around the estate.
Accommodation is on site too, with 14 bedrooms and a rather fabulous tree house.
Lucy and Chris’ wedding
I was very excited to conduct Lucy and Chris’ wedding at Deer Park – it’s one of Devon’s most prestigious venues and it didn’t disappoint! I was greeted by a very helpful member of staff who gave me a lift to the Italian Gardens in a golf buggy. It made a nice change from making multiple trips back to the car in heels! I conducted the ceremony from the top of the steps, giving everyone a great view of the happy couple.
It’s a venue that works particularly well if you want your wedding to feel like a whole experience rather than simply a ceremony and reception. Guests can stay on site, wander around the gardens, enjoy the different spaces and settle into the estate for the duration of the celebration.
For a country house wedding in East Devon near Honiton, Deer Park has plenty of character and an impressive amount of space.
