Getting married in North Devon
North Devon has a rather special place in my heart – because it’s where I chose to get married myself.
Wedding Celebrant of the Year – Devon
LuxLife Global Wedding Awards 2023, 2024 and 2026

My husband and I got married at Glebe Barn near Holsworthy, so I know from personal experience just how appealing North Devon can be for a wedding. We even had our honeymoon just up the road in Bude.
North Devon gives you a wonderful mix of coastline, countryside, beaches, farms, barns and country houses. You could have a relaxed coastal wedding overlooking the sea, a country celebration surrounded by fields and woodland, or something completely different.
Around Holsworthy, Bideford, Bude, Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, you’ll find everything from rustic barn venues and working farms to hotels, country houses and coastal locations. And then there’s the North Devon coastline itself, with places such as Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton and Combe Martin offering some pretty spectacular scenery.
It’s also an area that works particularly well for couples who don’t necessarily want a traditional hotel wedding.
I’ve conducted ceremonies at places such as Arches Beach in Combe Martin, and there are plenty of venues where you can create something much more relaxed and personal. Glebe Barn is a perfect example. It has beautiful gardens, countryside, accommodation and plenty of space, but it still feels like somewhere you’re actually celebrating rather than simply hiring a function room.
That’s one of the things I love about celebrant ceremonies.
You can choose a place because you love it – not simply because it’s licensed for a civil ceremony. If you’ve found a barn, farm, private property, garden or other special location that feels right, we can look at how to make the ceremony work there, with the legal formalities dealt with separately.
I cover North Devon, but because of the distance from my home in Exeter, there is a £75 travel surcharge for weddings in North Devon.
To make the planning process easier, all meetings with North Devon couples are held by video call. So you don’t need to travel to Exeter, and I don’t need to spend your planning time stuck on the A361!
If you’re planning a wedding in North Devon, I’d love to hear what you’ve got in mind. Having chosen the area for my own wedding, I know just how much there is to love about getting married here.
