I got married here myself. So when I tell you that I know this venue from both sides of the aisle, I really do mean it!
Set in six acres of gardens and countryside near Bridgerule, just outside Holsworthy, Glebe Barn is a family-run wedding venue designed around the idea of having the whole place to yourselves. There are gardens, meadows, woodland, cottages, a purpose-built oak barn and plenty of space to turn your wedding into a proper celebration rather than simply a ceremony followed by a meal.

A barn, gardens and lots of possibilities
The new oak-framed wedding barn is the centrepiece, with exposed solid oak beams, an integral dance floor, built-in lighting, Sonos speakers and a fully stocked bar.
But you don’t have to spend the whole day inside.
There are several places where you can get married, including the barn itself, the formal pond garden and the stone temple with its rose garden backdrop. The gardens also include a herb garden, meadows, woodland walks and spaces for games and photographs.
And one of the things I particularly like about Glebe is that you can make decisions about your day based on the weather and the atmosphere you want. You don’t necessarily have to decide every last detail months in advance – couples can choose where they want to get married shortly before the ceremony.
And then there’s the wedding weekend…
Glebe isn’t really a “turn up at two o’clock and leave at midnight” sort of place.
The venue offers exclusive use, with seven self-catering cottages sleeping up to 36 people, plus camping on site. There are communal outdoor areas with seating, a barbecue and firepit, and the venue is pet friendly too. I loved sitting outside in the courtyard the night before my wedding, surrounded by friends and eating pizza around the fire.
Depending on the package you choose, you can arrive before the wedding, get settled in with friends and family, have a barbecue or pizza night, spend the wedding day celebrating and still be there the following morning.
Why I know Glebe Barn so well
Having been a bride here myself, I know what it’s like to arrive with all the excitement – and all the stuff!
I know the spaces, the flow of the day and the little practical things that matter when you’re actually getting married rather than simply looking around on a venue tour.
And having written my own ceremony, I know how well Glebe works for a celebrant-led ceremony. You aren’t restricted to a standard script or a particular way of doing things. The setting gives you plenty of scope to create something personal, whether that’s a traditional ceremony with a few twists or something completely bonkers.
Not only did I have all of my guests sing along to Rick Astley, we also had a scavenger hunt for the kids and musical performances from some of our talented guests. The team at Glebe Barn took it all in their stride!

A relaxed wedding venue near Holsworthy
Glebe Barn is in Bridgerule, close to Holsworthy and within easy reach of Bude and the North Cornwall border.
It’s a particularly good fit if you’re looking for a Devon barn wedding with exclusive use, accommodation and space to celebrate over several days – and if you’d rather have a relaxed countryside setting than a formal hotel.
And if you book me as your celebrant, you’ll have the slightly unusual experience of having someone conducting your ceremony who can genuinely say:
“I’ve got married here too. I know exactly what it’s like.”
