Wedding Celebrant in South Devon

Getting married in South Devon

South Devon is one of those parts of the country where it’s difficult to choose between the scenery.

You’ve got sandy beaches, dramatic coastline, pretty estuaries, rolling countryside, ancient woodland and some wonderfully characterful towns and villages. And that means South Devon weddings can look very different from one another.

You could be saying your vows overlooking the sea, celebrating in a country house surrounded by parkland, or gathering your favourite people at a beautiful rural venue for a relaxed weekend in the countryside.

Weddings around Totnes

Totnes is a particularly popular choice for couples looking for somewhere with a bit of personality. The town is full of independent shops, cafés and historic buildings, with Totnes Castle sitting above the town.

Just outside Totnes, Dartington is one of the area’s standout wedding locations. The estate covers around 1,200 acres and combines historic buildings, gardens, woodland and open countryside. The medieval Great Hall is a spectacular setting for a ceremony and reception, while the wider estate gives you plenty of opportunities to make a weekend of it.

The South Hams and the coast

Further south, the South Hams is full of beautiful places to get married. Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and the surrounding villages combine coastal scenery with the rolling countryside that makes this part of Devon so distinctive.

If you’re dreaming of a beach wedding, places such as Bantham, Bigbury and South Milton offer some spectacular backdrops. If you’d rather have four walls and a roof, there are country houses, hotels, barns and private estates throughout the area.

And then there are the places that don’t necessarily look like wedding venues at first glance.

That’s something I particularly enjoy about celebrant-led weddings. A family home, garden, farm or private property can sometimes become the perfect setting for a celebration, provided the necessary permissions and practicalities are in place.

A South Devon wedding with personality

I’m based in Exeter and travel throughout South Devon to conduct ceremonies. A South Devon wedding might be elegant and traditional, relaxed and rustic, seaside-inspired or completely unconventional.

You don’t have to choose the most obvious venue or follow a particular formula. Find somewhere you love, bring together the people who matter and create a celebration that feels right for you.

I’ll take care of the ceremony.
