You’ve already done the wedding.

You’ve survived the planning, the nerves, the seating arrangements, the relatives, the speeches, the first dance and probably at least one argument about the table plan.

And here you are, still together.

So why not celebrate it?

Maybe you’ve reached a big anniversary.

Maybe you’ve come through a difficult time together.

Maybe your original wedding was small and you’d now like to celebrate with all the people you love.

Or maybe you simply think you deserve another fabulous party.

Whatever the reason, I’ll create a vow renewal ceremony that tells your story and celebrates the two of you.

I’m Julie Fox, an independent celebrant based in Exeter, Devon, and I create and conduct personalised vow renewal ceremonies across Devon and beyond.

Your vow renewal, your way

There is no standard script for renewing your vows.

You don’t have to recreate your original wedding ceremony.

In fact, you don’t have to do anything remotely traditional if that’s not your style.

Your vow renewal could be romantic and intimate, a huge family celebration, funny and irreverent, deeply meaningful – or a glorious mixture of all of those things.

Tell me your story

One of the lovely things about a vow renewal is that there is usually a lot more story to tell.

You’ve shared a life together.

There have been adventures, achievements, challenges, laughter, family, holidays, disasters, milestones and countless ordinary moments that have become extraordinary simply because you’ve experienced them together.

I’ll spend time getting to know you and finding out what makes your relationship yours.

For my bespoke ceremonies, I’ll interview you together and separately, giving you both the chance to tell me your version of your story.

I’ll then weave those stories into a ceremony that is personal, meaningful and recognisably you.

And if there are stories you don’t want me to tell...

Don’t worry.

What happens in the interview stays in the interview!

Renew your vows – or write completely new ones

You can repeat the vows you made all those years ago.

You can write completely new vows.

After all, you’ve changed since the day you got married.

Your relationship has changed too.

A vow renewal gives you the opportunity to acknowledge that – and to say to each other, once again:

“I choose you.”

Who can be part of your ceremony?

One of the great things about renewing your vows years after your wedding is that your family may look very different.

Perhaps you have children who weren’t there the first time. Perhaps you now have grandchildren. Perhaps some of your closest friends weren’t part of your original wedding.

A vow renewal can give everyone a role.

Children can read poems, grandchildren can be involved in the ceremony, friends and family can share memories, and everyone can have a part in celebrating the two people they’re there to honour.

You can also acknowledge loved ones who are no longer with you who helped you along the way.

Because this is your celebration, you can decide exactly who you want to be involved and how.

What can you include in a vow renewal?

Your ceremony can contain as much or as little as you’d like.

You might include:

  • Your original wedding vows
  • New personalised vows
  • Your love story
  • Readings or poems
  • Music and favourite songs
  • Words from family and friends
  • Children or grandchildren
  • Memories of your wedding day
  • Stories from your life together
  • Photographs
  • Acknowledgement of loved ones who can’t be there
  • A renewal of your wedding rings
  • A blessing
  • Something completely unique to you

A ceremony your guests will remember

Your guests aren’t just there to watch you repeat your wedding vows. They’re there because they’ve shared part of your journey. So your ceremony should give them a glimpse into the life you’ve created together.

I’ll tell your story with warmth, humour and plenty of personality, bringing in the moments that make your relationship special.

There might be laughter. There might be tears. There will probably be both.

And hopefully, there’ll be a few stories that your guests didn’t know!

Why choose me?

I’ve spent my career communicating with people, telling stories and creating memorable experiences.

I started out as an entertainer before moving into the corporate world, where I spent many years working in communications, events and presenting.

Now I use those skills to create ceremonies that are engaging, personal and enjoyable to be part of.

I’m confident speaking in front of an audience, comfortable thinking on my feet and passionate about getting the details right.

Most importantly, I’ll listen to you.

I’ll guide you through the process, make suggestions when you need them and create a ceremony that feels like it belongs to you.

Your story. Your vows. Your celebration. Your way.
