The college is part of the historic Bicton Estate, with Bicton House at its heart. The estate dates back centuries, and the grounds include Grade I listed parkland, gardens, a lake, arboretum and extensive mature planting.
One of the first things you’ll notice when you arrive is the avenue of enormous monkey puzzle trees leading towards the house. It’s quite an entrance for a wedding venue.
A wedding surrounded by Devon countryside
Bicton College offers a choice of settings for weddings, with Bicton House, its gardens and the surrounding estate providing plenty of possibilities for ceremonies, receptions and photographs.
The historic house gives you the grandeur you’d expect from a country estate, while the extensive grounds mean you can get outside and make the most of the Devon countryside.
There are formal gardens, woodland, a lake and open parkland, so there are plenty of different backdrops for photographs throughout the day.
And because you’re in East Devon, you’re close to Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, Exmouth and the coast, while Exeter is also within easy reach.
Charlotte and Louis’ wedding
Charlotte and Louis chose this venue because it was where they first met six years previously. It was great to see them back where it all began, surrounded by their family and friends.
It’s a lovely setting for a wedding if you want the atmosphere of a country estate without being miles from civilisation.
There is plenty of history and character, but also lots of space to make the day your own.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in East Devon, particularly around East Budleigh, Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth or Exeter, Bicton College is well worth considering.
