It’s a very different proposition from a traditional country house. There are no grand staircases or stately rooms here. Instead, you have a contemporary country-club setting, plenty of space, a large lake, sweeping golf-course views and everything you need for a wedding day in one place.
A choice of wedding spaces
Woodbury Park has several options for ceremonies and receptions, so the size and style of your wedding can influence which space works best.
The Oaks is the smaller of the main wedding suites and offers a more intimate setting for your ceremony or reception.
For larger celebrations, the Greg Norman Suite has room for up to 180 guests for a wedding breakfast. It has its own private bar, dance floor and raised stage, as well as a private terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside.
The outdoor views are one of the real attractions of Woodbury Park. The golf course includes mature woodland, rolling fairways and lakes, with the 18th hole finishing beside the main clubhouse. It’s a particularly pretty backdrop for photographs – especially if you time it for later in the day when the light starts to change.
Rebecca and Leon’s wedding
Rebecca and Leon chose Woodbury Park for their wedding. They had chosen to work with an event planner too and she had the Greg Norman suite looking absolutely dazzling. We conducted the ceremony in the Oaks, with the golf course and the Union flag flying on the balcony. As we concluded their ceremony with Elbow’s rousing anthem ‘One Day Like This’, the emotion was palpable.
More than golf
Despite the name, you don’t need to be a golfer to enjoy Woodbury Park!
The hotel has bedrooms and suites, as well as self-catering lodges that can accommodate groups of up to eight. There is also a health club with an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room, plus the Aura Spa.
That makes it particularly practical for weddings where friends and family are travelling from outside Devon. Guests can arrive, stay, celebrate and have breakfast together the following morning without having to worry about finding their way home after the dancing.
The location is another advantage. Woodbury Park is around seven miles from Exeter and only a short drive from Exmouth, so you have the peace and space of the Devon countryside without being miles from everything.
