The hotel was once one of the finest country mansions in the area. Although the original Georgian mansion was considerably larger, the remaining building retains its country house character, with 23 bedrooms and the option of exclusive occupancy for wedding couples and their guests.
There are also three bridal suites, all with views across the grounds.
Your ceremony at Lord Haldon
There are two ceremony options.
Outside, the covered gazebo sits amongst lawns, flower beds and mature planting, with space for up to 80 guests on the lawn.
Inside, the Belvedere Suite can be transformed into a ceremony room, with a courtyard providing somewhere for guests to gather before and afterwards.
After the ceremony, drinks and canapés can be served outside in good weather, before the Belvedere Suite is transformed for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
The suite can seat up to 180 guests, with its own bar and dance floor. There’s even the option of a barbecue in the sheltered central courtyard for a more relaxed celebration.
Sami and Rob’s wedding
I conducted Sami and Rob’s wedding at Lord Haldon. Romance was the order of the day, as the bride swept down the aisle to ‘At Last’ by Etta James. Something that particularly impressed me about this venue was the speed with which they transformed the ceremony space into a celebration space. The team at Lord Haldon are very efficient!
Why choose the Lord Haldon Hotel?
It’s a particularly useful option if you want a Devon country house wedding near Exeter, with accommodation on site and plenty of space for your guests to stay, eat, drink and celebrate without having to travel between venues.
