Higher Eggbeer is a beautiful Devon barn wedding venue near Exeter, at Cheriton Bishop, and it’s particularly well suited to couples who want plenty of freedom to create their own celebration.
The venue describes itself as relaxed and gives couples complete freedom to create their wedding day as they choose. It’s exclusively yours for the weekend or for midweek weddings, with accommodation on site and a choice of ceremony locations both inside and outside.
The Party Barn can accommodate up to 140 guests for a wedding breakfast and up to 200 for the evening celebration, while the venue also has substantial accommodation and camping.
That flexibility is one of the things that makes a venue like Higher Eggbeer particularly attractive to couples who don’t want a wedding that feels like a package.
Lisa and Greta’s wedding
Lisa and Greta chose to ‘jump the broom’ at the end of their ceremony, sweeping out the old and bringing in the new. They also combined their personalised ceremony with their legal ceremony – they had arranged for a registrar to attend and complete the paperwork on the day. Although it worked out in the end, this isn’t something I usually recommend. Doing both on the same day added a layer of stress that’s easy to avoid by completing the legal bit a few days before.
